Shifting Forms: The Druid Class Quests (Horde)

If you have an eco-streak wider than the green belt around New York City and a properly bloodthirsty wild-side, you might be looking at a druid. So, dust off the claws and fangs, we’re going to go down the proverbial rabbit-hole and explore what it takes to be one of Azeroth’s shape shifters. It’s a strange and twisted labyrinth, but at least in the end you get to call yourself a globe trotter, just be sure to take a bath afterward—rinse the blood and dust out of your fur.

If you’ve grown up in the Horde like me and you want to go druid, you only get one option until Cataclsym: the beefy option, tauren. With a new tauren druid rolled we’ll start off running the plains of Muglore towards our first druid class-specific quest. Druids work through a repertoire of shape-shifting and some utility spells that they receive through these quests, so they’re pretty much all cannot-miss, unless you want to grow up into a seriously wrecked druid.

Level 10: Bear form

Our first quest hits us at level 10 like a tree-branch set too low and we find the route to it offered by Turk Runetotem on the Elder Rise at Thunder Bluff. He’ll teach us a spell that we’ll end up using a lot Teleport: Moonglade so that we can complete “Heeding the Call.” And heed it we must as we teleport ourselves to the misty Moonglade, there we just hunt down a night elf druid named Dendrite Starblaze who tells us to go talk to a bear spirit in the forest. After a quick chat and a cup of tea we return to Starblaze and get sent back to Thunder Bluff to speak with our trainer again! (I did mention globetrotting, didn’t I?)

At this point, we shed all diplomacy and get a hunt-and-kill assignment: find a stone in the middle of the plains and prove our worth against the owlkin that emerges. The owlkin in question, a large ornery bird with antlers named Lunaclaw, won’t go down without a fight and it spawns at level 12, so watch your back (it’s best to bring friends.) In a hail of wrath and a furious pounding with our quarter-staff, we finally pummel Lunaclaw into the dirt and the Spirit of Lunaclaw appears. He lauds us for being so buff and sends us once again back to our trainer, Mr. Runetotem.

And finally we get our bear form. Roargrrugh! Be sure to take that bad boy for a spin, bear-all and take a dip in the pool in the middle of Thunder Bluff, and be sure to hop all the way there.

Level 14: Cure poison

The next class-specific quest lights up at level 14 for us isn’t a new form, but instead a utility spell: Cure Poison.

It starts just like the last one with Turak Runetotem and we’re directed to the Moonglade to once again speak to Dendrite. We should have suspected that the Moonglade teleport spell would come in handy. Dendrite, of course, sends us right back to Kalimdor with “The Principal Source”. To the Barrens we go—a flask in hand—and asks to ascend Dreadmist Peak, get some water from a pool there, and take it to a druid in the Crossroads. Dreadmist Peak lives up to its name—you’ll find it northeast of the crossroads—because as we romp up the slopes the air becomes stale and fills with an ever-present orange miasma. You’ll have to fight your way through a few mobs to get the water and grabbing the water will spawn a few more. So prepare for the bear to go back down the mountain, his fur wet with blood.

Tonga Runetotem in the Crossroads takes our water and sends us out to gather some herbs: 5 Earthroot and 5 Kodo Horns. The Earthroot comes from the obvious source and Kodo Horns mostly from the devastated and mangled bodies of Lost Barrens Kodos. She casts the herbs and horns into a mortar and pestle to mash them up into a curative salve, then bids us to return to the Barrens and fix some sickly deer.

They’re not that hard to identify—they’re small, green, and shedding luminous skulls as they walk. So we run wildly around the Barrens, using friends and enemies alike to locate 10 of these critters, cure them, and then rush back to Tonga Runetotem. And she sends us right back to Dendrite in the Moonglade!

Needless to say this all culminates in the receipt of the Cure Poison spell.

Level 16: Sea lion form

Two levels later, at level 16, we get our quest for our aquatic form, which is called a sea lion but looks a lot more like a manatee on steroids. As usual, starts at Runetotem, sends us to Dendrite. He tells us to jump in a lake!

For this quest, Dendrite wants us to leap into Lake Elune’ara, fortunately nearby, swim around until we find a Shrine Bauble, and take that to the Shrine of Remulos—fortunately all of this happens in the Moonglade. This completes the Trial of the Lake.

We’re sent back to Kalidmor to retrieve two halves of the Pendant of the Sea Lion which someone has gone and broken in twain for the Trail of the Sealion. The first half you’ll find in the northern Barrens in the middle of the Sludge Fen inside of a Strange Lockbox. The second half is a bit more tricky. We take the blimp over to the other continent and then wander down to Silverpine Forest—a very spooky place full of bears and spiders—and look for North Tide Run; there we hunt through the water to find a shipwreck. From the shipwreck we have to swim due west, keeping an eye out for bubbles below. When we find the bubbles, we know we’re in about the right place and we can dive (avoiding the sharks) and use the bubbles to help us breathe deep under water.

Do that. Find the box. Return to Dendrite.

[Author’s Note: I left out two quests, level 50 and 70. The level 50 quest is a treasure-quest that most people skip outright, probably better for its own article; and level 70 is a special quest for swift flight form.]

New Metal Detector Website Makes Treasure Hunting Fun Again

New Metal Detector Website Makes Treasure Hunting Fun Again

Brunswick, GA (PRWEB) April 25, 2009

For many people, metal detectors can be a source of fun and exercise. As the sun slowly comes out and summer awaits a rush of people running down to the beach with picnic baskets and volleyball nets, there’s sure to be lost treasures found beneath the sand as people clear out and head home.

Enter Kim McKendree and www.CoilToSoil.com, a website that specializes in high quality metal detectors at affordable prices.

“Metal detecting is a favorite pastime of mine,” said McKendree, who operates the website with his wife, Becky. “I thought that there would be other people out there, like me, who are interested in metal detectors but don’t have access to them.”

McKendree has several name brands at his store and though it’s only weeks old (it launched in March 2009 at press time) he’s already looking at adding more to his site, thus creating a rather comprehensive catalog.

“We’re looking into additional manufacturers,” he said.

Unlike other web stores, CoilToSoil.com comes equipped with its own in-house blog, in the form of www.TheMetalDetectorGuru.com.

The blog has tips on finding buried treasure – be it small or large – as well as reviews on the products that appear on Coil to Soil.

“It’s a great way for me to interact with people,” said McKendree. “If people comment on the blog, it’ll give me a good jumping point topically, as well as an idea of what people are looking to have in terms of their metal detecting.”

In terms of fitness, metal detecting itself is a proven light cardiovascular workout, perfect for people with heart problems or limited mobility.

As the summer draws closer, metal detectors will no doubt become a staple for the 2009 season, as much as badminton, baseball and S’mores. CoilToSoil.com is a good place to start looking for them.

Metal Detecting Recommendations For Successful Metal Detecting

Metal Detecting Recommendations For Successful Metal Detecting

There are many people who take pleasure in metal detecting as an interest. Walking along beaches, over mountains, waving the metal detector, and looking forward to the future major find provides a certain buzz to the majority of people. Moreover, the fresh air and the work out also entice many individuals to metal detecting. Those who have been doing it for a long time declare that anticipating the great discovery helps them to remain motivated.

Strategy 1
Before you start, you will need to have the right metal detector. It is no use buying the most costly metal detector if it does not fit your needs. It all depends on exactly what you are looking out for. You can get something uncomplicated, or something that has more capabilities. Some brands include White’s Electronics, Nautilus, Garrett, and Fischer. Each different brand has many various designs. Hence, it all depends on how much money you have and your needs.

Strategy 2
What is more enjoyable than discovering a group of similar buffs where you can share your knowledge and metal detecting experiences with? There are so numerous metal detecting clubs all over America. Just read through forums devoted to metal detecting. You can also find metal detecting clubs on Flickr, where they discuss their photos and experiences. Many websites are also set up by fanatics. If you are very experienced, then discuss your tips with beginners and you could be surprised at what new tips you could pick up.

Strategy 3
This is something you absolutely cannot disappear from. There is so much rubbish out there. Most likely you may get trash during your metal detecting expeditions. However, if you are patient enough to sift out all the junk, there is a possiblity of discovering treasures.

Strategy 4
It is truly fun to detect something and then dig it up. However, you need to be thoughtful. Whether you try to discover metal along a beach, at a park , make sure you close up the openings. If you dig up trash, do not leave them on the ground. Just collect the trash and dispose of them away later.

Largest Shipwreck Treasure Find Ever – VOA Story

An American company is in the process of determining the value of a haul of sunken treasure, thought to be the biggest ever discovered. Odyssey Marine Exploration says it is examining more than half-a-million coins from the shipwreck as part of a find that could net it around half a billion dollars. The bounty has sparked public interest in the controversial business of treasure hunting vy Odyssey Marine Exploration. “Black Swan is the code-name of a secret operation off the coast of Europe which may have discovered the biggest haul of shipwreck treasure ever found. Odyssey won’t reveal the identity of the ship, or even when it sank, to avoid giving clues to other treasure hunters. Odyssey will only say it went down in international waters. In the crates are 17 tons of silver and gold coins and other valuables arriving in the US, destined for a secret location. Mark Gordon, from Odyssey Marine Exploration, says an expert in 17th century coins estimated the value of the haul. “He looked at a representative sample of the coins and in amongst the group that he saw he was able to determine that there were values ranging from 0 to 00 for individual coins, and the mean value of the group that he looked at was about 00,” says Gordon. Those crates could hold about half a billion dollars. In the US, a big media splash about the “Black Swan” hoard has triggered a new fascination in pirate ships and treasure. Odyssey estimates there are some three million shipwrecks
