LiQC Version 2.0 Announced for Simultaneous Determination of Density, Refractive Index, pH and Color

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) September 14, 2007

METTLER TOLEDO is pleased to launch version 2.0 of its LiQC multi-parameter system for simultaneous determination of density, refractive index, pH/conductivity and color.

Measurement Principle

LiQC increases productivity by combining single measurements into one fully automated process. A sample is filled into a sample vial, placed onto an automatic sample changer and assigned a barcode label. LiQC automatically completes every subsequent step: choosing the appropriate method, pumping the sample into the various flow-through cells and performing all measurements. The results are statistically evaluated, compared to specifications and transferred to LIMS systems. LiQC thoroughly cleans and dries the measuring cells simultaneously before moving on to the next sample.

Lab Instrument “First” — Biometric User Identification

The new version brings additional, exciting benefits: For the first time in analytical instrumentation, biometric user identification with a fingerprint reader greatly facilitates user management, which is a prerequisite for analysis in compliance with 21CFR-11 or ISO17025 standards. Additionally, LiQC now works with stand alone density and refractometers as well as with the DR combined meters, so the system may be used for density and color measurement of lubricants or for pH and Brix measurement of fruit juice.

LiQC brings substantial time savings, simplified compliance, reduced margin of error and easy LIMS integration for analytical laboratories in many different industries. Its benefits will be particularly appreciated within flavor & fragrance, petrochemical, beverage and pharmaceutical industries where multi-parameter measurements are performed for identification, purity and concentration determinations and by independent testing laboratories that have to deal with a large quantity of samples and very short turnaround times.

METTLER TOLEDO is a leading global manufacturer of precision instruments and the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of weighing instruments for use in laboratory, industrial and food retailing applications. METTLER TOLEDO also holds the top-three market positions in several related analytical instruments markets and is a leading provider of automated chemistry systems used in drug and chemical compound discovery and development. In addition, METTLER TOLEDO is the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of metal detection systems used in production and packaging.

Madrid, Madrid (PRWEB) October 25, 2009

Atocha station memorial

In March 11, 2004, packed arriving commuter trains were bombed in a series of coordinated bombings, killing 191 people and wounding 1800. The official investigation by the Spanish Judiciary determined the attacks were directed by a Muslim al-Qaeda-inspired terrorist cell. The Atocha station memorial is a memorial monument located at Atocha station in Madrid, Spain, that commemorates the 191 victims of the 11 March 2004 Madrid train bombings and the special forces agent who died when seven suicide bombers blew themselves up on 3 April 2004. The 11-m tall (36ft) cylinder stands above Atocha station, the destination of the four trains that were attacked. Thousands of messages of condolence made in the days after the attacks are inscribed on the inside of the tower. The messages of grief can be seen from a chamber beneath the hollow monument. King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofia and Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero attended a sombre ceremony at the site. Wreaths were laid at the foot of the tower and mourners observed three minutes of silence. Source: Wikipedia, 2009

Metal Detecting Treasures – Enjoy Your New Hobby

Metal Detecting Treasures – Enjoy Your New Hobby

It’s the excitement together with adventure of discovering treasures that makes metal detecting a really great hobby. If you have never experienced much good luck and only discovered a few coins as well as rubbish the chances are that you’ll keep metal detector inside the garage which will stay there for a long time. So what can you must do to circumvent that from occurring?

I pretty much want to declare, lower your expectations, you should be ready to find and take home a lot of waste! There is no other way, if you don’t endure everything you will likely not discover anything. You will find yourself throwing out 60 – 80% of everything you brought home. But that which you discover depends on much more than just your own metal detector. It depends on how much you understand about metal detecting itself, all the tricks of the trade if you will, and of course where you go to find your treasures. Do not expect to find a musket round around the beach front.

The more effort you put into obtaining great treasures, the more you will be likely to find. Do your research. Investigate places and artefacts in your area, as well as close by. The web is full of information and the local library will be just about the most valuable resources of real information of your region. Look up internet sites to discover suggestions for brand new areas to go looking. But where ever you decide to go, you want to know a brief history of where you are going to know what to expect and the location where the best place to find it would be. Type in “History of …” in any search engine and you are bound to receive a lot of results for any area you might be looking at going. It is usually beneficial to understand the history for when you discover something of value, you might be in a position to put a date on your treasure, or perhaps to understand more about what you found.

In the event that researching is not for you, you can always become a member of a metal detecting club. Metal detecting clubs will do the research of historical sites and regions on your behalf along with organization with all the owners of the properties, the legal facets of things and host treasure hunts that you can join. Clubs additionally provides you with the opportunity to meet up with and speak with individuals who can give you valuable suggestions and may turn out to be new friends. You need to simply load up your gear and make an appearance.

Never neglect or count a site out that you believe has been overhunted. It is possible to go back and detect the site repeatedly after big rain storms. Once the ground is soaked, the damp ground is more conductive and you may find deeper treasures. Following hard winters the ground shifts after it thaws, making it possible to reveal new treasures which were not there last year. Doing so provides you with a better chance to locate more lost and /or valuable treasures.

Just to reiterate: Metal detecting requires more skill than simply following the beeping sound of a metal detector, do your research, join a club, enjoy the adventure and learn to find those truly valuable treasures.
