METAL DETECTING – 1700’S Big Copper Coin Part 1

Today, Jan. 28, 2012, I recovered two Large Copper Coins from a Homesite that was first occupied in the mid 1700’s ….. This is the site where I recovered an 1864 “2 Cent Piece” last year. I came with my shovel to locate and dig the trash pits on the property, and began the hunt with a quick concentrated Scan of a small area of ground right next to and just south of the Cellar Hole with my metal detector….. After about an hour, and digging every signal that I detected, I found a very old large Copper Coin that needless to say, put the Trash pit dig on hold for the rest of the afternoon till another day. I’ve hunted this site about 18 more times since I found that “2 Cent Piece” last year and found nothing but Bullets and a few Coins from the 1940’s and 50’s …… these later date Coins were probably dropped by Deer Hunters who hunted this ground back then. Other than that, “Nothin but Bullets”… The place is loaded with Bullets … Very old Bullets from the late 1700’s and 1800’s. The home that stood there, finally collapsed in 1910 and was owned along with the large piece of land that surrounds it, by the same Family and and later Generations until 1900 …. It is State Land today and only the Cellar Hole remains . With no substantial coin results since last year, I had to rethink my hunting techniques because I knew that people lived on that site for well over a hundred years, and in that time had to have dropped more coinage ….. There were a lot of unused

In Yorkshire we have an old saying “There’s nowt as queer as folk” …translation … there is nothing as strange as people and what they do … and when it comes to abusing our coins I have to agree … as a couple of today’s finds were rather strange … to say the least ..

Young seals on wreck Gertrud near Saaremaa #1

Few young grey seals have chosen this old shipwreck as their home. Often up to 50 seals can be spotted around this wreck, this time we saw only 4. On wreck, when approached slowly, often youngsters come as near as 1 meter to swimmer/diver. Away from wreck, in open water, 5-10 m distance is maintained usually. METTLER TOLEDO Takes Titration to the Next Level of Simplicity

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) September 21, 2007

METTLER TOLEDO is delighted to announce version 2.0 of its Titration Excellence line. After the successful introduction of the One ClickTM concept in 2006, the new version takes titration to the next level of simple, efficient and secure operation. Titration Excellence version 2.0 is introduced together with a new version of LabX titration PC software, a new portfolio of plug & play sensors, the new DS800-TwoPhase sensor for potentiometric surfactant titrations as well as the new high capacity sample changer Rondo 30.

With Titration Excellence version 2.0, all components of the system are automatically recognized. The user can operate the system without worrying about correct settings or calibration data. The instrument guarantees correct and secure results anytime. The new plug and play sensors store all relevant sensor data and communicate with the titrator as soon as a sensor is plugged in. This guarantees maximum security and makes the titration workflow more efficient.

The new LabX titration PC software version 2.6 makes sure that all data and interactions are fully tracked and electronically recorded. For Pharma customers, the support for compliance with FDA 21 CFR part 11 has been further enhanced.

The new Rondo 30 sample changer offers automated titration of up to 30 samples with one single click. It is fully compatible with most components of the modular Rondo sample changer system and can grow and/or change with the needs of the user.

The new DS800-TwoPhase electrode is a breakthrough for potentiometric content determination of anionic as well as cationic surfactants according to the DIN EN 14480 and other standards. Offering a real alternative to the widespread Epton method that uses the problematic solvent chloroform, the DS800-TwoPhase achieves a high level of titration speed and accuracy in two-phase titration and avoids toxic chemicals. All types of surfactants are titrated directly in the emulsion without waiting for two phases to separate.

METTLER TOLEDO is a leading global manufacturer of precision instruments. The company is the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of weighing instruments for use in laboratory, industrial and food retailing applications. The company also holds top-three market positions in several related analytical instruments and is a leading provider of automated chemistry systems used in drug and chemical compound discovery and development. In addition, the company is the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of metal detection systems used in production and packaging. Additional information about METTLER TOLEDO can be found at http://www.mt.com.

Research, Investigation, and Reconstruction: Important and Necessary Element of any Profession Treasure Hunting Expedition (The Professional Treasure Hunter’s Notebook)

Readers of my books on lost mines and buried treasures, along with many who attend my talks and some who follow my treasure hunting adventures, often inquire about what I refer to as the ever-important research process. Specifically, people want to know how and where I learn about the existence of lost caches and long forgotten mines. Then, once these have been identified, they want to know about my process for locating them.Readers of my books on lost mines and buried treasures, along with many
