  3. Didnt Spain steal this treasure from south america, then if this treasure is thiers so is the responsibility of how this treasure got in thier possesion in the first place. This was really stolen booty spain had at the time. Also, would spain give it back.

  4. First I don´t accept advices about hypocrisy from a Yankee and less about to kill nothing. Second odissey has stolen something that don´t belong them and the treasure will be sent to Spain and you will see it because it has been ordered by two american judges.
    Bye ignorant.

  5. I am completely aware of the navigation principles of the past. By the way idiot its called stellar navigation. If Spain regains all of their property will they honor their dead by dumping it back to the bottom of the ocean to respect the dead? If they dont I find it hypocritical. Now kill yourself

  6. EEUU govern, US Navy, all the international comunity of archeologists and two judges of Tampa gave the reason to Spanish Govern. Odissey must return the treasure to Spain, there it will be sent to museums, not to sell it by internet as Odissey began to do.
Odissey broke international and spanish laws, stole archaeological remains, carried it ot ouf spain witout permission and sold part of it.
They are thieves not heroes and must go to prisson this are the real facts.

  7. Spanish govern knows where mostly of his ships sunk, because there is archives about it named Archivo de Indias, since 500 years ago. Spanish ships usually sailed in convoys and if one ship sunk the others register it in his books.
There is somenthing named international law that protects this sunken ships. Odissey went to spanish waters after spanish govern forbid dig there, recobered the treasure without permision, destroid the rests, hid it, carried it to usa and began to sell it by internet.

  8. Firstly, Spain does not know where all their ships sunk over centuries of seafaring – that is just obsurd (with the exception with some on the bottom of the sea at Trafalgar lol! ) They would know what cargo was on certain ships, but that is it.

It is pure and simple – Spain just wants some of the 500 million worth of coins.

  9. Another stupid comment, so if sailors haven´t GPS 100 or 500 years ago they could´t sail across the Atlantic Ocean Isn´t it? If you don´t know they sailed using the stars and naval maps and they knew exactly where they was sailing.
And giving some light to your ignorance, the black swan was sunk in a naval battle, the place is well known by British and the survivors of the spanish convoy.
The spanish govern have redacted maps about sunken ships to protect them from pirates like Odissey.

    Comment by molendomolo — November 9, 2010 @ 1:08 pm

  10. So what your saying is that Spain knows exactly where all their lost ships are and they leave them where they are out of respect for the dead? What maps about the situation are you referring to? Did you have gps on you 100+ yr old boats? I think not! I also would be okay with spainiards finding an american treasure in the ocean as long as they put the items in a museum. Its better off there than forgotten at the bottom of the sea. Oh and kill yourself molendomolo. haha

    Comment by fenderspring — November 9, 2010 @ 1:19 pm

  11. A stupid comment, Spain has complete maps about the situation of sunken ships but they are condidered as submarine cementeries and they are protected by the law.
What would you think if a spaniard go to EEUU, to a native cementerie, dig it, find gold and items, hide it , destroy all the cementery and not tell anithing to the authorities, carry it by plane to Spain and sell your archaelogical treasures by internet?
This is exactly what Odissey made, so Odissey and they staff to the jail.

  12. Por fin se hace justicia. En 10 días el tesoro será devuelto a su legitimo dueño. ESPAÑA. La pena es que los LADRONES del Odissey no vallan a la cárcel por robar y destruir los restos arqueológicos.

  13. @231de300 When anything bad happens in the world like a tsunami, or earthquake, or when tyrants and dictators overrun and mistreat people who comes to help? The Americans. Remember WWII

    Comment by fenderspring — November 9, 2010 @ 2:27 pm

  14. To bad Spain isn’t intelligent enough to find their own ships. America can, and without us Spain would never get it back. Hello Americans thank you so much for finding our lost boat that we thought was lost forever now give it to us and fuck off. Thats Bullshit!

  19. So SPAIN STOLE this gold from PERU yet they expect these guys to fork it over to them. If I were the guys that did all the work and found this gold I would dump it back in the sea and tell Spain to go get it themselves.

  23. I just saw the “Treasure Quest” show on discovery. Spain arrested the captain of the Odessey and took possession of the American ship when it tried to leave the port of Gibralter. The treasure was said to be found in international waters and the Odessey was confiscated in international waters.

Answer me one question, is Spain allowed to do that?

    Comment by titorobreturns — November 9, 2010 @ 8:15 pm

  25. Another bunch of thoughts! We are well aware that the silver and gold that the Spanish were shipping to their home ports was “stolen” or otherwise taken from its true owners. I wonder how the would react to being blockaded by an alliance of South American countries who want their gold and silver returned. I suspect that the Spanish would not be too happy and call for support from the European Union; that would be really interesting woudn’t it?
