  17. OH OH OH …. I’ve got a good idea.. Let’s protect the wreck by leaving all the stuff down there so NO ONE can see it or make any money. Lets just all sit behind our desks and play concerned archaeologist. GO FOR IT ODYSSEY !!

  19. I think its sad archaeologists cant drop thier pride and work with people like these to the sastifaction of both. Some of these sites are already disturbed by fish trolling operations but they dont even seem to know that. These people are careful and document everything.

  23. A lot of homosexual implications in this video. “There’s something about the sea that brings us closer together than on land. There is no internet so we have to entertain ourselves.” etc.

  24. The scientific community doesn’t have the money to spend searching for and recovering treasure/artifacts from sunken ships. If it wasn’t for the “treasure hunters” that risk their own capital, we wouldn’t see any of this at all. The majority of artifacts from sunken vessels you see in museums is all thanks to guys like them.

  25. These people are destroying the Archaeological record. What the fuck.

    Comment by ZisaPunim — November 18, 2010 @ 1:32 am

  26. Actually you are wrong. These folks tend to send what they find to museums across the world, depending on the heritage of what they find, where they find it, so on and so forth. Remember who found the titanic? They did a video, collected a few items and they are on display in a museum. thats what they do. Perhaps you need to check your info.

  27. Additionally these fucks do not even publish their material so it would be open to science. So all material they loot is lost for ever for any way of scientific research!

    Comment by Germankaviar — November 18, 2010 @ 2:29 am

  28. It doesn’t matter if they leave the “rest”at the bottom, the site is disturbed and therefore data is corrupted! instead the material is divided up all over the world for those retarded collector motherfucks!
Those people are looting international history for money and a crappy TV show! And it is quite daring to make a show like this and call it science. It has nothing to do with ANY kind of Archaeology (neither “normal” nor “unnormal”) and it is offensive to anyone of the real Profession!

    Comment by Germankaviar — November 18, 2010 @ 2:49 am

  29. Actually they emply several archaeologists. ALot of the things they discover would be forever lost at sea if they didn’t go looking for it, because there is no way there is NEAR enough underwater archaeologists to find/catalog/map it all. The number of archaeologists that specialize in underwater is tiny compared to the number of normal archaeologists.Besides, wreck salvage has been going on since ships first started sinking. Odyssey goes about their work carefully and respectfully, unlike some.

  30. If you were at sea, you would probably keep ur calender, ur watch, and maybe ur phone. “OHHHHH YEAH! I got a bar!”

    Comment by footballkid1010 — November 18, 2010 @ 3:21 am

  31. If they only cared for the money they would’ve left everything else on the bottom.

    Comment by Klibbnisse — November 18, 2010 @ 3:47 am

  32. Theres nothing cool about what these clowns are doing. And archaeologists don’t hunt for treasure, they utilize artifacts to reconstruct past lifeways. In nautical archaeology, gold is usually of little interest compared to what can be gleaned from the other artifacts

  35. that’s not archaeology. it’s only treasure searching. Archaeology is understanding the past , those people just dont care
